Tree lighting ceremony set for Nov. 28

The festive season is fast approaching, and officially arrives in Cochrane on Thursday, November 28th, with the lighting of the Christmas tree.  Municipal clerk Alice Mercier says it’s at the traditional place, outside St. Paul’s United Church on Sixth Avenue, at 6:00pm.

“Right after the event,” she tells My Cochrane Now Dot Com, “there’s going to be the Christmas parade, which the Cochrane Crunch usually organizes, and that starts at 6:30.”

But that’s not all.  Mercier adds that the parade ends at the Tim Horton Event Centre.

“Right after the parade,” she explains, “well, there’s fireworks at the Event Centre, so that will happen around 7:15.”

It’s not confirmed yet,but the Lions Club is trying to get Santa Claus to make an appearance that night.
