I.F. Curling Club struggling to survive

Avid curlers in Iroquois Falls are trying to keep their sport alive.

Iroquois Falls Curling Club vice-president Elmer Fisher says numbers are dwindling every year,as the population of the town also dwindles.

“It’s part of it, plus the way the workforce is nowadays,” he points out, “a lot of people work in and out of town for a week at a time, so they can’t commit to the sport.”

To help remedy that, on  Tuesday at 7:00pm, there’s a “learn to curl” event for anyone who’s never curled.

“It’s just for a small group,” says Fisher, “but as we go down the road, in a few weeks we’re planning on having a fun social on a Friday night and we’ll just take it and see what the response is from there.”

All you need is cleaning running shoes.  Brooms and sliders will be provided.
