Better not pout, better not cry: Santa Claus is coming to Iroquois Falls parade

It’s beginning to look a lot like… Community Christmas Parade time in Iroquois Falls.

It’s set for 6:00pm on Sunday, November 17th.  Chair Jane Kydd says it’s always the first Sunday after Remembrance Day, so that it’s not too cold for Santa, parade participants or spectators.

“And in December, there’s too many Christmas parties and too many things and it doesn’t work,” Kydd explains.  “And why it’s a Sunday night is so that we hope that the businesses can participate, because most businesses close on Sundays around 5:00 or 6:00.  So hopefully they will participate because it’s their parade, not mine.”

Santa Claus has confirmed his participation.  Kydd is excited with news that the Shriner’s Club from Timmins is also planning to be in the parade. And she’s looking for anyone who wants to walk, march, dance or drive in it.

“I don’t have a theme and there’s no prizes because this is not about winning a prize or a theme.  It’s just whatever makes you happy.”

If you’re planning to participate, contact Jane Kydd.  She’s also looking for volunteers to help line things up at the arena the night of the parade.
