News Opportunity for seniors to get health and wellness information SHARE ON: Bob McIntyre, staff Thursday, Oct. 10th, 2019 Immunization against the flu is available at the seniors health fairs put on by the Porcupine Health Unit. (flickr.com) The Porcupine Health Unit is offering a series of health fairs for seniors this fall, in communities right across the region. Public health nurse Natalie Vachon Ukrainetz says it’s a good opportunity for seniors to learn about available health and wellness services.. “Seniors don’t always know what services are available to them,” she notes. “So it’s kind of a way to get them out and about and to see what services they can access.” The information is provided by guest speakers and at booths. “The booths consist of health professions” she says, “so there’s like a dietitian, maybe a pharmacist, public health nurses. We are also providing the flu vaccine to anybody who’s 65 years of age and over.” SENIORS HEALTH FAIRS Cochrane – Wednesday, October 23, 2019, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Commando Park Pavillion.
