Catch the Ace buzzes into Cochrane

Something that has created great buzz in communities as close as Iroquois Falls is coming to Cochrane.

The Lions Club is starting its own “Catch the Ace” progressive draw next month.

Vice-president and co-chair Lyne Nolet  says it’s a great way to raise money for the wide variety of community programs supported by the Lions.  And by holding the weekly draw at the Legion, it will help that organization as well.

“They can sell coffee, pop, beverages, and can make a little social evening for the community,” says co-chair Nolet.

The draw sees money awarded every week, but the jackpot isn’t given away until the lucky draw winner’s ticket reveals an ace of spades.

“The maximum will be $50,000,” Nolet explains.  “It’s a progressive draw where 20% goes to the winner of that week, 30% stays in the progressive draw for the person that catches the ace.”

If everything falls into place in time, the first draw will be Thursday, October 17th at 5:00pm at the Legion, and livestreamed on Facebook.
