Hunting Rules for Moose Could be Problematic

The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters calls new moose hunting rules for Northern Ontario restrictive and unnecessary. The Ministry of Natural Resources wants to delay the gun hunt by one week and reduce the number of calves that can be hunted. The changes are to address a declining moose population. The federation agrees the population issues needs attention but says the proposed changes are not supported by facts. The federation says the ministry can’t manage the moose population by only focusing on hunters and has to look at other measures.
