Plenty of animals at Cochrane Fall Fair

It’s a big weekend coming up in Cochrane…

“The weekend that we wait all year for – Cochrane Fall Fair!”

Cochrane Agricultural Society director Heather Brouwer says the fair runs Friday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm, and Saturday from 10:00am to 6:00pm at the fairground next to the curling club.

All the usual favourites will be there: bounce houses, a petting zoo, and exhibits of items entered into competition.
“Anywhere from vegetables or herbs that people may have grown in their gardens,” says Brouwer,  “to baking or canning, quilting, there’s crafts, photography, some woodworking and there’s even a lot of junior categories as well, as young as kindergarten up until about grade 10.”

And as you would expect at an agricultural fair, livestock.

“We know we’ve got some cows coming and I think we’ve got some turkeys coming as well and we’ve heard rumours about maybe some chickens,” Brouwer reports. “But if everybody’s excited to see those animals, we do have the petting zoo.  So there will be plenty of animals to see, to touch, to interact with.”

Brouwer is so upbeat, you would think that she has influence over fall fair weather.

“I unfortunately do not, except I myself am a ray of sunshine, so hopefully… (laughs).”

The deadline to bring in exhibits is 11:30 am Thursday and 11:30am Saturday for livestock.
