OPP forms team to follow Schmegelsky/McLeod tips across Ontario

Despite a large number of reported sightings in Ontario of British Columbia fugitives Kam McLeod and Bryer Schmegelsky, provincial police say there’s no confirmation that they’re in this province.

The pair of teenagers are wanted in three murders in Northern British Columbia.

Staff Sergeant Carolle Dionne at OPP headquarters in Orillia says a team has been set up specifically to follow all tips.

“Our criminal investigation branch is connected with the RCMP and we’re working along with them to coordinate our efforts here in Ontario of any findings that result,” Dionne reports.

While no tips have panned out so far, Dionne freely admits that neither is it confirmed that they’re not in Ontario.

“It’s important for members of the public to be vigilant of their personal safety at all time,” she advises.  “We are reminding them that these two suspects are considered dangerous.  If observed, not to approach them and to call immediately.”

Dionne reminds us not to go to social media first.  That only wastes valuable time.
