Back to school shopping for kids other than your own

Now that August is here, NEOFACS – the former Children’s Aid Society — has started its annual back to school campaign to collect school supplies.

Staff member Meereille Dubosq says the school supplies are for more than just foster children.

“We try to give out the donations to our clients first,” Dubosq remarks, “and if ever other children in the community are referred by service providers or just requested by family, we would definitely try to help them out.”

When you’re outfitting your own kid, you might duplicate everything and give the extras to the campaign.

“We’re looking for any gently used items or new items,” says Dubosq. “This can be school bags, lunch bags, ice packs, lined sheets of paper, pencils, pens, rulers, calculators, pretty much anything you would think of that children would need in school.”

You can drop off your donation at any NEOFACS office.  And remember: some kids begin the new school year the last week of August.
