Blood donor clinics now two days, not three

From now on, when Canadian Blood Services holds a blood donor clinic in Timmins, it’s only for two days, instead of three.

Donor relations manager Jenny Fortin says the reduction came following an annual review of operations.

“What we’ve done with the two days is we’ve reduced them,” she says, ”but we’ve also added more screening booths, more beds and more appointments during preferred times.”

Fortin says it’s really getting the same result out of two days, as the previous three.

“We had our first collection with the new hours.  It was on June 4th and 5th,” she notes. “It went really, really well.  We had a really good response from the public and we’re doing it again.  We’re going to be back on August 27th and 28th.”

Fortin can’t say whether the target of 240 donations was met, but says what was collected was sufficient to keep hospital blood supplies stocked.
