Status quo on forest fire ‘Timmins 2’

There’s one new forest fire reported in the MNRF’s Northeast region.  It’s only about the size of two football fields… and is burning near the Hudson Bay coastal community of Fort Severn.

Forest fire information officer Isabelle Chenard says the fire near Gogama that’s almost two weeks old still isn’t considered under control… but is holding at just over 46-hundred hectares.

Firefighting crews are busy dousing hotspots detected by infrared technology.

The forest fire hazard is moderate to high north of Sudbury… and low to moderate in the rest of the Northeast.
