Cochrane clean-up this Saturday

The garbage that accumulates under the snow is now appearing on the streets of Cochrane — but not for long.

In conjunction with the Lions Club, the Polar Bear Habitat is holding a community clean-up this Saturday.

Marketing assistant Lynn Cotgrave says the Habitat is an advocate for the environment and keeping the town beautiful.

As usual every year, the Lions are providing bags, gloves and a pizza lunch.

“Last year was our first time partnering with them,” says Cotgrave, “ and this year we’re trying to make it even bigger.  We’re inviting all the organizations in town and individuals to come and help out and everyone will be provided with everything they need.”

“Last year, the fire department helped.  We would pick up the garbage in garbage bags and what not, and leave them and then trucks would come by and pick it up for us, so you don’t have to carry a massive amount of garbage bags with you the whole time.”

Everything starts at 9:00am at the curling club, and wraps up around noon, with the Lions serving pizza lunch at the beach house.
