Silent art auction is lagging

Reaction to the Artistic Endeavors exhibit in the gallery at the Cochrane Public Library has been good so far, but not so much for the silent auction that goes along with it.

Artistic Endeavors is a local group that studies the work of the masters, and then tries to reproduce their pieces, or do some of their own, using the masters’ techniques.

Member Dianne Bradley is pleased with the reaction to the works of her fellow group members, and Shane Martin’s Cochranre Public School students who join them.

“It’s been amazing,” she comments. “There’s been a lot of people coming and going and it’s remarkable what the artists in town have come up with on their own by following the masters’ techniques.  People are very impressed with the students.  They did amazing work.”

Also up for auction. Proceeds go to renovation to the Cochrane Pulbic Library’s art gallery.

Bradley says a handful of the paintings are up for bidding.

“The money that we raise is going, all of it is going to the library gallery.  We want to help contribute towards the funding for the new walls that we’re in dire need of.”

Bidding closes at noon, Monday, May 27th.
