Cochrane churches reenact Jesus’ death

Written by Tim Rout

On Good Friday evening, roughly 130 people gathered at the Commando Pavilion in Cochrane for a live reenactment of Christ’s crucifixion.

Eleven players from seven local churches put on a startlingly graphic show depicting the final hours of Jesus’ life from the night he was arrested to the morning of his execution on a Roman cross.

Pastor Ken Williams from the Baptist Church says the dramatic event was intended to be an immersive experience. “This is called the Good Friday experience,” he notes, “where we have some different scenes and act out the various sections of Jesus’ trial, punishment and eventual nailing to the cross and putting in the tomb.”

The crucifixion reenactment is in its seventh year and is a cooperative production involving nearly all the area’s churches.
