Tech socials for seniors come to Cochrane

You’ve heard of tech socials at libraries like the one in Iroquois Falls — now the program is coming to the Cochrane Public Library.

Assistant to the CEO Jessica Horne tells My Cochrane Now Dot Com that it’s aimed at senior citizens, but anyone is welcome.

“It’s a five-week workshop that we’re putting on, aimed at Apple and Androis devices,” she explains. “So if people need help with their smartphones or their tablets, this is the workshop for them.”

Horne says it will cover basics on using the devices right up to social media and entertainment and lifestyle apps.  The lessons are conducted by NeoNet.

“It’s to reduce the confusion and the fear that are maybe associated with some of these devices, because you spend a lot of money on them and then you’re nervous to maybe break them,” says Horne.

Tech socials are free, but the library asks that you pre-register.  Each session will start at ten o’clock in the morning and run on Mondays, beginning April 29th.
