IFSS students participate in province-wide demonstration against education cuts

Students at Iroquois Falls Secondary School walked out of class early this afternoon… participating in simultaneous province-wide cuts and changes to education planned by the Doug Ford government.

Student ambassador Kianna Goulet led the peaceful demonstration at IFSS.

“Martin Luther King Jr. once said our life begins to end the day we become silent about things that matter,” she told her schoolmates.  “We cannot be silent about this. We must raise our voices so we are heard by the Ford government.”

Goulet also urged the crowd to do more beyond the one event.

“This is about us kids and this is about our future as a province.  We have two clipboards that are going to be passed around.  We ask that you sign your name as part of a petition that will be sent to our MPP, John Vanthof.”

Goulet said that along with the petition will be a letter expressing concerns about the changes.
