Attempting to raise the curtain on a revived Cochrane Community Theatre Troupe

The scene opens in Cochrane, with recreation committee member Heather Decevito asking drama teacher Margaret Burkholder about reviving the Cochrane Community Theatre Troupe.

The next act will be written at an organizational meeting on Wednesday, April 17th at 6:30pm at St. Paul’s United Church.

Burkholder says it’s for more than just actors.

“We need front of house people, people who can sew for costuming, set designers, the whole works.  We’re starting from the ground up here,” she explains.

Burkholder wants to stage a frivolous, fun comedy in early to mid July, before raising the curtain on even more.

“We would like to continue with maybe dinner theatres, eventually opening it up to younger actors in the community, just trying to have theatre in the community by people in our community.”
