Cochrane to apply for infrastructure funding

A major platform plank when Denis Clement ran to be mayor of Cochrane last fall… was improving infrastructure.  He might have just gotten a gift dropped into his lap by the province.

It announced the first phase of infrastructure funding and for now, it’s only for small northern and rural municipalities.

Mayor Clement says staff is now analyzing the information on how to qualify.

“It appears to be, if you qualify, almost 90% dollars,” he states, “so we would definitely take advantage of any project that we would qualify for.”

The mayor says no particular road, bridge or any other piece of infrastructure has been identified yet.

“We’re going by the previous council’s priority list, but we do plan on having a priority session in the next few weeks and coming up with our own priorities.  They may be the same, but they may be different.”
