Empire Theatre Manager John Brisson is hosting another Just For Laughs comedy show for Cochrane, featuring Glen Foster “That Canadian Guy” from Toronto, and Chris Bonaparte from Quebec.
Their goal is to put Cochrane on the map as something of a comedy hub for the north. Local Cochrane comic Chris Clarke is helping promote the show and will appear as one of the acts. Clarke says a comedian’s job isn’t just telling jokes or getting the laugh.
“The comedian’s role is not only to make people laugh,” he relates. “You can make connections that kind of illuminates either the problems or the benefits.”
Clarke says the hardest thing about doing stand-up is the standing.
“Simply getting on stage and getting over the deer in headlights effect that happens when you’re confronted with making a group of strangers laugh.”
