Clement wants to keep moving forward, now that recount case withdrawn

Denis Clement has no hard feelings towards Peter Politis.

That’s part of the Cochrane mayor’s reaction to Politis – the most recent mayor – withdrawing his court case against the town, looking for a recount from the October election.  Clement beat Politis by five votes.

“I certainly want to and need to move forward and make it a strong community once again, with one voice.” – Mayor Denis Clement

“Personally, for myself and my family,” Clement comments, “I’m quite relieved that it is over.  We can now continue to move forward in the community.”

He also says he hopes the healing between the two camps can begin, and the community can keep moving forward.

“It is a split community,” says the mayor. “There’s such a small margin of course, there’s both sides, the supporters of Mr. Politis and my supporters.  So I certainly want to and need to move forward and make it a strong community once again with one voice.”

A judge officially dismissed the court case, with no costs awarded.
