Keep your epic March Break snow fort away from the road

This year’s March Break coincides with snow clearing operations, as municipal crews try to catch up with the record-breaking snowfall we’ve had this year.

With the weather getting milder, conditions are almost perfect for making snow forts and tunnels.  Cochrane infrastructure services director Shane Skinner asks kids to make sure they do that in their yards, well back of where the snow clearing equipment might come along.

“We’ll grade or plow or go with the blower and that might cause some collapses or cave-ins or just burying in the banks into the igloo or into the snow fort,” he says.

“We appreciate kids being kids and enjoying this March weather, especially during March Break, but we’d like them to do that in their yards, not adjacent to the roadway so we can do our work and they can have fun and play safe.”
