The OPP advertised their Festive RIDE campaign and told drivers what the results would be for drinking and driving but it seems the message isn’t getting out. Police charged 593 people with drinking and driving over the Christmas period which is more than the last campaign. More than eight thousand vehicles were stopped throughout the campaign. They do thank those who were designated drivers and those who chose alternate ways to get home after having a drink. More education is still needed.
