NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS FROM AIRPORT CONTRACT TALKS

There’s no word yet out of mediated contract talks between Timmins City Hill and outside workers at the Victor M. Power Airport as the clock keeps ticking towards the 6:00pm  strike deadline.

Those talks began this morning.  The Union of Canadian Transportation Employees issued a 72-hour strike notice late Friday afternoon.

The 19 workers have been without a contract since the end of 2016.  The city says its last offer on February 6th was flatly rejected by the union… which hasn’t presented a counter offer.

The city says safe airport operations will continue if a picket line is established… but travellers can expect delays.

My Cochrane Now Dot Com will remain updated throughout the evening.  We’ll also have the latest in the morning on Moose FM News.
