GOAL SURPASSED AT VINTAGE RIDERS FUNDRAISING RIDE

Snowmobilers from as far away as Ottawa, Guelph and Thunder Bay were in Cochrane for Saturday’s tenth annual Tom Saul Memorial Ride.  And the local Vintage Riders snowmobile club couldn’t be happier with the result.

Organizer Dan Girard says the weather couldn’t have been better for the 45-kilometre round trip on snowmobiles of all vintages.

Even better:  Girard is confident that the fundraising goal of ten-thousand dollars was surpassed, even as the club’s treasurer works on a final tally.

Tom Saul was a founding member of the vintage snowmobile club who died of cancer just about a year after the initial ride.  All the money raised goes to cancer care at Lady Minto Hospital.

Girard says Saul’s widow and other family members joined all the riders for the day-ending barbecue dinner.
