One more source of stress for student at the Northern College Timmins campus is being addressed… in a co-operative effort involving the college and the organization HOPE Comfort Kits and Community Outreach.
HOPE stands for Helping Our People Excel.
The initiative involves providing comfort kits for students. The kits contain hygiene products for both genders.
Student association vice-president Anna Black notes that some students have up to three jobs in order to survive while getting their education.
“With the price of everything nowadays, everything’s really expensive,” she says.“ So providing these HOPE kits will relieve some of that stress on the students.”
Black says she hopes students in need of the kits come forward without feeling any stigma.
“When you do get in contact with us, we can arrange a date for you to come and pick up the HOPE kit, whether it’s at school or through the HOPE Foundation itself.”
