WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT

Don’t let the mild, calm weather of the last few days fool you.  Winter is winding up to take another swipe at us over the weekend.

Environment Canada has put a winter storm warning into effect for Timmins, Cochrane and Iroquois Falls.  It’s predicting 15 to 20 cm of snow and ice pellets Saturday into Sunday.  It’s expected to start as snow on Saturday, possibly changing to ice pellets and maybe rain overnight, then back to snow Sunday morning.

Then the wind is expected to hit between 60 and 80 km/h Sunday night into Monday morning, blowing that new snow around and reducing visibility.  Of course, that mixture of precipitation will make all surfaces slippery, especially sidewalks and roadways.
