News FUN IN THE CARDS IN PORQUIS MARCH 1 & 2 SHARE ON: Bob McIntyre, staff Tuesday, Feb. 5th, 2019 Photo credit: Porquis Recreation Association/ Facebook Porquis is known for rock and blues music, and always having a good time at any event a small army of volunteers puts on. This year, there’s no winter carnival. However, Porquis Recreation Association secretary-treasurer Denis Charette says the card tournaments associated with it will go ahead, on March 1 and 2nd. “This year with the finances we won’t be able to put on a winter carnival,” Charette explains, “but we want to continue the tradition of having the annual cribbage tournament and euchre tournament on Saturday night. “We usually get about between 30 to 40 teams on the crib and about the same for the euchre,” but there’s no limit. Charette is also confident that the winter carnival will return as early as next year. “Oh, yeah. As long as we can get people volunteering and that, to do different events.” Follow this link for more on the cribbage and euchre tournaments.
