LABELLES DONATE $5-MILLION TO HEALTH SCIENCES NORTH

UPDATED FROM AN EARLIER VERSION TO INDICATE IT WAS THE MARCEL AND FRANCES LABELLE FOUNDATION THAT MADE THE DONATION.

The name M.J. Labelle is a very familiar one in Cochrane, from a company started during the Depression that went on to be one of the biggest civil engineering companies in Northern Ontario.

Now, the Labelle name will be on a new innovation and learning centre at Health Sciences North in Sudbury.

The Marcel and Frances Labelle Foundation has donated $5-million towards its construction.

It’s said to be the largest private donation ever, to any Northern Ontario hospital.

Health Sciences North says the Labelle Innovation and Learning Centre will train future doctors, nurses, technicians and paramedics on some of the most advanced equipment.
