It’s movie night this Saturday at New Hope Community Church on Fifth Street in Cochrane.
The youth group will be showing “I Can Only Imagine”, says adult leader David Oldfield.
“It’s based on the true story of the lead singer of Mercy Me,” says Oldfield, ”and his struggle with growing up in an abusive home, following Christ and the amazing redemption of his father.”
Among big names in the cast are Randy Quaid, Amy Grant and Cloris Leachman.
Admission is free. The group will be selling pop and munchies. Oldfield says it’s to raise money for two trips this spring.
“One in May is to Overflow, which is a huge event in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, where literally four- to five-thousand teenagers gather for an entire weekend to grow more in their knowledge of God and worship God.”
The second trip is in June to Canada’s Wonderland. After a day of rides, the young people gather at the concert area to hear several Christian bands.
Movie night starts at 7:00 pm Saturday.
