MICS HOSPITALS GET INFRASTRUCTURE FUNDING MONEY FROM PROVINCE

The hospitals in Cochrane, Iroquois Falls and Matheson are getting money from the province… to upgrade their buildings. It’s part of $175-million dollars for hospitals across Ontario, announced on Tuesday.

CEO Paul Chatelain has this break-down for Lady Minto, Anson General and Bingham Memorial: “$1.5 million is going towards a roof here in Cochrane,” he says. “$550,000 has been provided for our oti tank replacement and freight elevator upgrade in Iroquois Falls, and $350,000 is going towards a new generator at Bingham Memorial Hospital in Matheson.”

Chatelain says the grants were applied for last May. We’re a bit cash-strapped.  Fundraising is very difficult so it’s really welcome news and it’s going to go towards our aging hospitals and we need to upgrade our physical plant.”
