CHURCH ENTERS NEW YEAR WITH NEW HOPE

After about 70 years as Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church,  the place of worship on Fifth Street in Cochrane is undergoing a name change.

Youth pastor Patrick Tousignant says the congregation has voted to become New Hope Community Church.  It will still be aligned with the Pentecostal Assemblies.  Tousignant says the name change comes after looking at what the church has become, and what it wants to be.

“We want to build community with each other,’ he says, “because we have a synthetic community with facebook and all that kind of stuff and we believe there’s something more real than that.  Yeah, we want to be a New Hope Community Church.”

Visible changes are already happening.

“Our signs are going to change and our cards,” Tousignant remarks, “and then we’ll have kind of a grand opening also to the community.”
