STATE OF THE ART MEDICAL EQUIPMENT HELPS ATTRACT PHYSICIANS, NURSES

Friday between 6:00am and 6:00pm, Moose FM will be live on-air, raising money for portable  digital X-ray equipment at the hospitals in Iroquois Falls, Cochrane and Matheson.

It’s the Caring Communities Radiothon.

MICS group of hospitals CEO Paul Chatelain says he has seen the state-of-the-art equipment in action.

“This equipment really is firsthand is the image quality is wonderful, lower dose radiation to our patients so our patients are safer.  And the X-ray images are done in real time so it benefits the patient, our physicians and our staff.”

Chatelain says equipment like that helps smaller hospitals perform more to the level of larger ones.

“What’s important too,” he remarks, “is when we’re trying to recruit physicians and nursing staff who are coming from big cities, they want to work with state of the art equipment and this is a prime example.”

The target for the Radiothon is $100,000.  That’s the price tag on one of the X-ray machines.
