More than two thirds of the student population at Cochrane’s Ecole Catholique Nouveau Regard spent part of Tuesday afternoon on the run – a Reindeer Run around Lake Commando.

Nouveau Regard is a kindergarten-to-Grade 12 school of just over 350 students.

Principal Mireille Miron says the “Reindeer Run” raised more than $7,000 to help the needy in Cochrane.

“We’re always doing different activities to help out as well,” the principal comments, “and this year we just wanted to give back to the community by having the Reindeer Run.”

Miron says the school will partner with Valu-Mart and Giant Tiger. “We’re going to be buying some gift cards to help some of the families that are in need this Christmas season and we’re going to be giving out those gift cards in the next few weeks.”
