NewsPortable X-ray machines at heart of Community Cares Radiothon SHARE ON: Bob McIntyre, staff Thursday, Nov. 29th, 2018 A week from tomorrow (Friday)… Moose FM turns its airwaves over to raising money for the hospitals in Cochrane, Iroquois Falls and Matheson.MICS group of hospitals C-E-O Paul Chatelain notes that this is the first time they’re the beneficiaries of the Community Cares Radiothon.“It’s a 12-hour radiothon that is going to raise money to go to the hospitals to purchase portable x-ray machines” says Chatelain.“We’re purchasing three and they’re $100,000 each, so we’re hoping to raise $100,000.”The state-of-the-art digital machines can be used at bedside, rather than having to move a patient to the radiology department. They also emit less radiation, and the images are available immediately, with no need to use a dark room to develop film.The Community Cares Radiothon runs next Friday from six ‘til six on Moose FM, 98.1 in Cochrane and 101.1 in Iroquois Falls..
