A week from tomorrow (Friday)… Moose FM turns its airwaves over to raising money for the hospitals in Cochrane, Iroquois Falls and Matheson.
MICS group of hospitals C-E-O Paul Chatelain notes that this is the first time they’re the beneficiaries of the Community Cares Radiothon.
“It’s a 12-hour radiothon that is going to raise money to go to the hospitals to purchase portable x-ray machines” says Chatelain.
“We’re purchasing three and they’re $100,000 each, so we’re hoping to raise $100,000.”
The state-of-the-art digital machines can be used at bedside, rather than having to move a patient to the radiology department. They also emit less radiation, and the images are available immediately, with no need to use a dark room to develop film.
The Community Cares Radiothon runs next Friday from six ‘til six on Moose FM, 98.1 in Cochrane and 101.1 in Iroquois Falls..
