119 Charges Laid in a Recent Drug Bust

Yesterday’s search Warrant around Hemlock Street in Timmins has ended in multiple arrests and charges.

The Timmins Police Service says the Drug Enforcement Unit worked with the Timmins Police Emergency Response Team to execute a Controlled Drug and Substances Act search warrant at a multi-unit apartment in the north end of the city. Police say this ended with 10 people arrested and a total of 119 charges laid.

Officers found and seized multiple drugs in the building including:

– 40 grams of heroin
– 221.7 grams of cocaine

– 117 oxycodone tablets
– 17 methamphetamine tablets

The estimated street value of everything seized totals $111,000. Police say an undetermined amount of cash was also found.

Communications Coordinator Marc Depatie says “any incident that involves firearms is a concern for the general public and the police force as well. We are thankful that this operation went off as successfully as it did but it does speak to the size of the scope of organized crime undertakings by certain individuals in our community.”

Depatie adds that “we are hopeful this message resonates with those persons who choose to engage in this type of criminal activity that the Timmins Police Service is always at the ready and actively involved in a number of investigations, this one showing the absolutely detrimental effects of being in the drug trade.”

Police say nine of the 10 people arrested remain in custody awaiting a bail hearing including:
