You will have a chance to meet all the people running in the municipal election before you hit the polls.

The Cochrane Board of trade says next Wednesday it will be holding a meet and debate night at the Tim Horton Event Centre Community Hall. This is to ensure that everyone is well informed before heading to the polling station on October 22nd.

The board says there will be moderators, questions and speeches from all candidates running for mayor, council and school board. Here is a schedule of the event:

  • at 6:30pm¬†French School Board Candidates¬†will give their introduction over three minutes, followed by questions
  • Council Member Candidates will follow immediately afterwards with a three-minute introduction. A round of questions from our community members. There will be no closing statements.
  • There will be a short break
  • The Mayoral Candidates will then be allowed a five-minute introduction. Questions from the community, and then a two-minute closing statement to end the evening.

If you have any questions for the candidates, you can email them to the board of trade by noon next Wednesday. Written questions will also be taken on the night of the event.
