Police Remind You to Lock Your Doors

Lock your doors.

This message is from the Timmins Police Service after a 26-year-old woman was arrested and charged for breaking and entering into a residential complex on Riverside Drive Sunday evening. Police say a suspect had been confronted while stealing items from the building’s common area. TPS says the suspect hit the person who confronted them and fled. Officers say the 26-year-old woman is facing seven charges including:

– Break and Enter
– Two counts of Theft Under $5,000
– Two counts of Possession of Property
– Assault with a Weapon
– Mischief

Communications Coordinator Marc Depatie this is a reminder to pay attention to your property as we head into darker evenings. “It’s always in your best interest to lock your doors and do a perimeter check of your property to make sure everything is in order.” Depatie says if you live in a complex building, you should keep an eye on and help out your neighbours. “You may not be the direct victim, but crime affects us all in one way or another.” He adds that if you see anything suspicious, you should report it to the police.

TPS says the woman accused is in police custody awaiting a bail hearing.
