OPP Prep For Labour Day Weekend Patrol

With the long weekend approaching the OPP will be out in full force patrolling local roadways.

The James Bay Detachments will be out in full force during the Labour Day weekend to prevent unnecessary death or injury from motorists.

Provincial Constable Stephanie Belec says police want to remind community members along the Highway 11 corridor about the dangers of any distracted driving, and the penalties that go along with it.

Belec says residents are reminded that distracted driving leads to a $490 fine and 3 demerit points, and drivers can be fined up to $1000 for inattentive driving.

In order for you to arrive alive, she says follow these four rules; pay attention to the road, seatbelts save lives, obey the speed limit and don’t drink or do drugs and drive.
