Plans to Bring Chimo Home are Moving Forward

There is some movement happening with Chimo’s coming home plans.

The Cochrane Board of Trade says it is currently working on a two week plan to get the new bear into its permanent home. Board President Jamie Mageau says to start things off it has moved the Chimo prototype into a public home. Mageau says the board didn’t originally plan to keep the prototype, but it fit in the community so it now lives in the town’s roundabout.

He says crews are now starting a two week plan to get the new Chimo home. The old cement base is now being ripped out so a new one can be built. Mageau says the board has also purchased a plane ticket to get the artist who created the new bear to Cochrane from BC.

The board is hoping to have the bear put in place within the first week of September. Mageau says there will be a grand unveiling when everything is ready to go. He say there isn’t a set date yet just in case there are some minor problems that delays the process.

The MyCochraneNow.Com Newsroom will provide an update once it becomes available.
