The cancellation of cap and trade by the Ford government will leave taxpayers on the hook.
That’s according to NDP MPP for Temiskaming-Cochrane John Vanthof, who says Ford’s decision will damage Ontario’s economy and taxpayers will be left to settle million dollar lawsuits.
Vanthof at Queen’s Park spoke about how cancelling cap and trade will risk the health of the province’s economy.
He also spoke about how the cancellation of the system will get Ontarians no closer to cleaner air or water.

Meanwhile, Ontario Premier Doug Ford has vowed to deliver on his campaign promise to scrap the cap-and-trade system and fight a federal carbon tax.
