There is still no word on when Chimo is being replaced.
The lawn where the old polar bear statue sat for decades is still bear after the original was removed in June. Cochrane Board of Trade Trustee Jamie Mageau says there is no concrete plan to put up the new bear yet, but he is hoping it will happen soon.
Mageau says there are requests for a quote on the new base out to a few construction companies right now, but this is the busiest season for them which is delaying the process. He says the board of trade has one quote back and s hoping for a few more in the near future so the replacement process can get underway.
He says until then, the new polar bear that was made in British Columbia will stay in storage.
