Work is about to start to fix the Commando Lake Bridge.
Town council had awarded the contract to Deep Construction for $104,000 at the end of May. Council says the bridge needed to be re-designed before work could be done.
It has agreed on the new design for an additional $18,000. The new bridge will be made of Hemlock, which is considered a longer lasting wood. Council says the arch will also be fixed to comply with accessibility codes. At this time it is not known if canoes or kayaks will fit under the new arch.
The project is expected to take six weeks to fabricate and 10 days to install.
