Provincial Parks Open Their Gates for Free Today

You can hit the Provincial Parks for free today!

Ontario Parks is celebrating Healthy Parks Healthy People by opening its gate to day users for free.

Assistant Park Superintendent Chris Wright says from gate opening at 8:00pm until the 10:00pm closing, anyone can check out the trails and lakes in the parks without having to pay.

Wright says Ontario Parks hosts Healthy Parks Healthy People to promote an all around healthy lifestyle for all.

Kettle Lakes Park will he hosting a number of activities like:

  • 10:00am forest bathing. This is a Japanese practice where you go for a slow walk in the woods without any technology.
  • Sessions at 2:30pm about how to explore the Oh-Say-Yah-Wah-Kaw trail on your own.
  • Meet a naturalist at 2:00pm.
  • Art in the Park at 7:00pm where you get to make your own masterpiece while looking at Island Lake.

Wright says this day is also a fun ways for Ontario Parks to celebrate its 125th Anniversary.
