Regional Forest Fire Update

Two fires in the Timmins area are almost under control by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.

The MNRF says the 62 hectare fire about 25 kilometers northwest of Kamiskotia Lake is now under control by crews and a 12.6 hectare fire south of Highway 560 is being held by crews. Fire Information Officer Shayne McCool says soon crews will be moving the fires into resolved stages.

McCool says there are some regions in the north under an open fire ban, but it does not affect here.

McCool says this ban is mainly in the Temagami region as crews are fighting a series of fires that are causing communities to evacuate.  He says notices will be released if conditions in the region change.
