Summer Travelers Should Avoid the Temagami Region Due to a Fire

You should avoid the Temagami region when traveling right now.

The OPP and Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says a forest fire is forcing people who live between  Finlayson Point Provincial Park Road and Jessie Lake to evacuate. The OPP says people are being told to travel north along Highway 11 to get away from the fire. Police say the Town of Temagami is currently on a voluntary notice to evacuate.

There are currently no road closures, but fire conditions may worsen which would close down Highway 11. Officers say if you are planning to travel, avoid Highway 11 between North Bay and Temiskaming Shores.
