Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat Adds New Experiences

You will be able to try something new this summer at the Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat.

Four new experiences are coming to the centre to bring you closer to the polar bears. The habitat says it is adding a new keeper experience, photography package, bear holding tour and crate training experience. It says these are new ways for you to learn about the different parts of the centre, as well as further educate you on the species. The new experiences are described as:

  • The Keeper Experience – allows you to step into the shoes of a bear keeper and get an up close and personal look into what they do with the bears in a day. This could include an in depth look at feedings, training sessions, and even some exciting play time with some of the bears favourite toys.  – $50
  • Photography Package – allows you access to the walkway on the roof of the viewers building. From here you will have an uninterrupted view of Enclosure “A” and will be able to capture the shots of the bears that no one else can. – $75
  • Bear Holding Tour – will give you an inside look at where the bears spend their time cooling off, enjoying alone time, or sleeping! You will be able to spend time with our Animal Care Staff
learning more of what it really takes to care for these magnificent animals. – $300
  • Crate Training Experience – goes another level deeper into the training efforts we take at the habitat. You will have a front row seat to a crate training session with one of our bears.
You will get a one of a kind learning experience that will teach them the reasons we do training, how to work with the bear and what circumstances we can use this training for. – $400

Staff says this is a great way to learn more about polar bears and how they live.

You can contact the habitat for more information. All experiences must be booked 48 hours in advance.
