Volunteers Needed for Stars and Thunder 50/50 Sales

More volunteers are needed to run the 50/50 sales at Stars and Thunder.

The United Way is running the draw this year with their half of the money being split between local organisations that help the community including:

• Access Better Living – Extend-A-Family Summer Program
• Alzheimers Society of Timmins-Porcupine District Inc – First Link Program
• Anti – Hunger Coalition Timmins – Good Food Box Program
• Community Living Timmins – Residential Program
• Science Timmins for Kamiskotia Snow Resort – Ski in School Program
• Le Centre culturel La Ronde – Kids Summer Camps subsidies
• North Eastern Ontario Family and Child Services – Various subsidies for disadvantaged children
• Sports for Kids Timmins – Sports subsidies
• Northern College of Applied Arts – Lightning Trail Summer Camp
• Northern College of Applied Arts – Bursaries to full-time students
• Science Timmins – Summer Science Expedition
• Seizure & Brain Injury Centre – New Beginnings Day Program
• Timmins Learning Centre – Homework Club
• Timmins Porcupine Search and Rescue Inc – Search and Rescue Program
• United Way Centraide North East Ontario

Cochrane and Timiskaming District Manager Jennifer Gorman says there are still 140 volunteer spots needed to be filled over the course of the week.

Gorman says volunteer shifts can start anytime between 11:00am and 2:00pm, depending on when the gates open, and end as late as 10:00pm after the draw is done. She says you can contact her for more information on how to sign up through email at [email protected] or by calling 705-269-3300. She says once you connect with her, she will connect you with Tourism Timmins for training.

Gorman says you have to be at least 18-year-old to sell the 50/50 tickets. She adds that this year there is no daily cap on ticket sales, and people will be able to purchase tickets with cash, credit or debit.
