OPG Warns You to Stay Clear of all Dams and Hydro-Stations

As the long weekend approaches and the weather warms up, you are being reminded to stay clear of any hydro dams and stations.

Ontario Power Generation says some people may be hitting the water to celebrate the unofficial start to summer, but water levels are fluctuating right now because of the spring melt. Spokesperson Neal Kelly says you should not be swimming or fishing near any OPG dams.

Kelly says most of the dams and hydro-stations are on rivers in rural areas around the province. He says this could cause a problem if you were to find yourself on the wrong side of a no trespassing sign

Kelly says it’s better to just stay clear of the areas. He says the company wants everyone to have fun, but in a way were everyone makes it home safe. He adds that OPP officers do patrol the areas and hand out tickets to people not respecting the land.
