Cochrane’s welcome sign will be lit green for the next 15 days in memory of the Humboldt Broncos.
Mayor Peter Politis took to Facebook in order to send his condolences to family members as well as billet parents of all involved with the Saskatchewan Junior A hockey team.
Politis wrote in his post that events like this expose our intimate emotions as it strikes us all regardless of our differences.
He also mentioned the Cochrane Crunch Junior A team and how they have a handful of players who have formerly played with the Humboldt Broncos currently on their roster.
Politis went on to say that as northerners we rely on one another for support in our small towns built on rural values.
He finished by saying as a humble vigil, the town will keep its welcome sign lit green for the next 15 days, to represent the 15 young men who lost their lives.
